Yes, that is correct. Although Dr Dao was trained to manage all musculoskeletal conditions, he now only focuses on treating knee conditions for both adults & children. He specializes in all conditions of the knee. For patients with aggressive tumours, he will refer on to his colleagues who sub-specialises in musculoskeletal tumours.
You will need a referral letter from your GP or specialist to see Dr Dao. This ensures that Dr Dao is appropriate for you and your condition.
Medicare rebates are only available if you have a current and valid referral.
- Referral from your GP or specialist
- Medicare or Veterans’ Affairs card
- Health fund membership card
- Workers compensation details if you sustained a work-related injury including the insurer, injury claim number and contact details
- If you have seen a physiotherapist, please bring a progress letter from the therapist
- If you have had surgery elsewhere, please bring a copy of your operation report
- X-rays and any other scans
- A list of all your medications
- Dress appropriately so Dr Dao can easily examine your knee
- A current referral letter if your previous one has expired
- Progress report from your physiotherapist
- Old & new diagnostic imaging such as X-rays, MRI scans, bone scans
Each consultation attracts a fee, which is reimbursed in part from Medicare. The consultation fee will be advised to you at the time of booking your appointment. Payment is to be made at the time of your consultation.
If you require a surgical procedure, a detailed outline of the surgeon’s fees will be provided, including the amounts rebated by Medicare and associated private health fund, and an estimate of your remaining out of pocket expense.
